Caring for children with diabetes becomes easier if you can involve them in their own treatment. That's the idea of this game.
GRIP, which was developed by Ranj, is part of an online self management application for diabetes patients. By connecting personalized information from the electronic patient file to a game, children learn to make decisions and develop skills based on their current health. Parents and the attending physician can monitor the patient's condition on a daily basis.

The consequences of your blood sugar level
GRIP is a serious health game which lets children experience how activities and food are influencing their blood sugar level. In a playful way, they learn to deal with the consequences of diabetes.
The game takes place at the headquarters of The Health Agency, where strange things are happening. They call in players for the role of top secret agent. The goal: to find out what's going on. Players have to solve problems and stop the evil Dr. Glucko. They succeed by completing all the missions and keeping their blood sugar levels steady.
Application and prizes
Because the game is linked to the electronic patient file, the game is useful for health management and educational application for children, parents and medical counsellors. GRIP won the 2008 Top Innovation Award.
